COXEN

COXEN - short for Co-expression Extrapolation - is an algorithm which provides the prediction probabilities on which chemotherapeutic agents should be effective for the treatment of individual cancerous tumors, based on gene expression profiles of the tumor samples.

COXEN was first published by Lee and Theodorescu in 2007 (A strategy for predicting the chemosensitivity of human cancers and its application to drug discovery, PNAS, August 7, 2007 vol. 104 no. 32 13086-13091).

(COXEN patent application)

By applying COXEN to in vitro and in vivo datasets, predictive biomarkers for patient response can be identified. These biomarkers, when applied to novel patient samples, can produce dramatic improvements in patient outcomes.
